Shri
Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, the second largest education
society in the State of Maharashtra was founded in 1932 by
Shikshan Maharshi and Krushi Ratna, Late Dr. Panjabrao alias
Bhausaheb Deshmukh, the first union Minister of Agriculture.
The society has created a thick educational network in entire
Vidarbha, for it has been managing under its control education
institutions of varied nature and that too at all levels.
The society comprising about 269 education institutes of varied
academic nature. The proposed budgetary outlay of the society
is of Rs.155,98,98,726/- and the staff strength inclusive
of academic and ministerial manpower figures to 6101 as on
31.3.2009. Whereas, students strength which was 1,05,420 during
the year 2006-07 is likely to cross this figure considerably
in the academic year 2009-10. |
Considering
the worthy contribution of Late Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb
Deshmukh in the field of agriculture, in general and in agricultural
education, its research and extension in particular, this
educational society has started Shri Shivaji College of Agril.-Biotechnology
in 2004-05 on non-grant basis under the academic control of
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. This college
offers four year degree programme in the field of Agricultural
Biotechnology. The entire infrastructure required for providing
quality education, and other facilities are available in newly
constructed building of the college. |
